IMPORTANT UPDATES
IMPORTANT UPDATES
The Diocese of Southern Ohio and St John’s Episcopal Church have instituted new policies regarding capturing image and likeness of any guests being served by Jericho’s Light Club, and the presence of any Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and officers on church property.
The taking of photos and/or video of our guests, and the dissemination of such, is now strictly prohibited. Photos and video of volunteers is still permitted.
Should you be confronted by any representatives of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency while serving at Jericho’s, please stop them at the door and immediately report their presence to a Jericho’s board member.
Thank you in advance!
All meals provided at Jericho’s are prepared and served by volunteer groups from various churches, corporate communities, educational institutions, sports teams, other organizations, as well as families and friends who come together to assist those in need.
Below are our expectations for our volunteer serving groups and some key points they should be mindful of.
Your Safety
Your group's safety is our highest priority. Please convey the following safety guidelines to your team members:
Be mindful that guests at Jericho's come from diverse backgrounds and various stages of life.
Ensure attire is appropriate and modest.
Minors must always be supervised by an adult from your group.
Only individuals 18 and older are permitted to be and work in the kitchen area.
Volunteers should not provide money, transportation, personal contact information, or lend their cell phones to guests.
If you ever feel uncomfortable, excuse yourself politely and seek assistance from another volunteer or a staff member.
Drugs, alcohol, weapons, and unauthorized firearms are strictly prohibited at Jericho's. Report any concerns to a staff member promptly.
Personal items such as coats and purses are the individual's responsibility. Jericho's cannot be liable for these belongings and does not offer storage. If left in a vehicle, keep them out of sight.
For safety, do not walk outside or to your car alone; always accompany other volunteers.
Thank you for adhering to these guidelines to ensure everyone's safety and well-being.
What to Bring and Meal Preparation
You are required to supply the food and all necessary ingredients for your meal. You have the option of preparing your meal off-site and bringing it in or preparing it on-site using our commercial kitchen. Should you choose to prepare on-site, please inform us well in advance, as you will need to arrive early for meal preparation. We provide pots, pans, and cooking utensils on-site. Additionally, we have an industrial dishwasher available, allowing you to serve your meal on real plates with real flatware, which are also provided on-site. It is recommended that you prepare sufficient food to serve at least 80 guests.
Furthermore, you are requested to supply coffee, sugar, coffee creamer, cold beverages or drink mix, and cold cups.
Group Size
There are no restrictions on the number of people in your group. However, please note that the kitchen area has limited space. Ideally, a group of six can operate comfortably in the kitchen. A larger group can assist with serving and body ministry. We also request that you plan to stay after closing to help clean the kitchen, dining area, bathrooms, and participate in debriefing.
Words of Hope
Your team will have the opportunity to deliver a biblically sound message of hope to our guests, limited to no more than 20 minutes. However, there is no obligation, as our staff and volunteers are always prepared to provide this message if you are unable to or choose not to. This message could include a biblical teaching, or a personal testimony related to a biblical principle.
See You Soon!
